Overview

Aggie Development Incorporated

A NMSU Regent-owned, non-profit corporation created under the University Research Park and Economic Development Act, for the purpose of facilitating non-traditional real estate development by way of collaborative and innovative approaches, which advance the goals of New Mexico State University. The Aggie Development Incorporated Board consists of NMSU Regents, Chancellor and other important stakeholders at NMSU and in the Southern New Mexico community.


Mission

The corporation is organized to benefit New Mexico State University by (1) relieving the University of responsibilities to manage and develop University owned real estate and water rights in a commercially reasonable manner and to maximize the University’s return from these assets; (2) by contributing all of the corporation’s net revenues to the University; and (3) by creating learning opportunities for students in this development activity.

Vision

The corporation will provide a stable platform that acts, in conjunction with the university, to steward proper utilization its real estate and water resources in creating an income stream that benefits NMSU- it’s students, faculty and staff.

Guiding Principles

  • Position lands to create long term value for NMSU.
  • Develop programs that continue the learning experiences for the students.
  • New development to compatible with the University mission.
  • Generate reoccurring revenue for Aggie Development and NMSU. Position the property assets to derive the maximum return for the University with minimum risk.
  • Use public/private partnerships to develop core facilities such as retail commercial developments, housing, recreational activities, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Connect to campus and the greater community.
  • Integrate sustainable development strategies.
  • Recognize the cultural and recreational significance of Tortugas (A) Mountain.
